Dr. Giansergio Menduni has performed research in fields related to the scientific sectors 09/E3 Electronics, 02/B1 Experimental Physics of Matter and 02/D1 Applied physics and in particular to the design of front-end amplifiers for piezoelectric transducers and realization of optical gas sensors. His research activity is thereby focused on the development of gas sensors based on Quartz-Enhanced Photoacoustic Spectroscopy (QEPAS) and Light-Induced Thermoelastic Spectroscopy (LITES) on the signal conditioning of Quartz Tuning Forks transducers. In particular, several achievements have been obtained using the QEPAS and LITES techniques such as: the realization of the first commercial QEPAS sensor system to measure methane, ethane and propane purchased by Aramco Service Company; the realization of a QEPAS sensor system to measure methane isotopes and methane-based mixtures purchased by NTU university; the demonstration of the flat spectral response of quartz tuning forks employed as photodetector for infrared radiation.

Dr. Menduni is a reviewer for several international journals, such as: Optics Express, Infrared Physics and Technology, Photoacoustics, etc. Dr. Menduni is author or co-author of 17 publications edited on peer-reviewed international journals, 1 book chapter and 16 conference proceedings. He gave 4 talks presentations at international conferences. Dr. Menduni is Guest Editor of the Special Issue “New Prospects in Photothermal and Photoacoustic Techniques for Sensing and Imaging Applications“, of the international journal Sensors (MDPI). Dr. Menduni has a Hirsch factor of 9, related to 29 documents and 249 citations (SCOPUS).
